YC Volleyball sophomores take it to the next level

Four sophomores from Prescott’s 2021 YC volleyball team are heading to the next level to pursue their academic and volleyball careers: middle tackle Paiten Langston, libero Brooklyn Holland, right hitter Shea Marovich and setter Natalie Horsley.

“I will always remember this group of players in part because they helped our program through the pandemic and come out strong on the other side,” the head coach said. Zacharie Razor mentioned. “They played two full seasons of collegiate competition over a 10-month span, which would normally have taken 16 months. It was a hardworking, determined group of individuals who came together under tough restrictions and became a championship team.

All four student-athletes were members of the 2020-21 team that won an ACCAC championship, regional championship and district championship en route to a national tournament appearance. In the 2021 fall season, Langston, Holland, Marovich and Horsley also helped lead the Roughriders to an appearance in the NJCAA Division I Region I Championship Game.

Paten Langston

A native of West Jordan, Utah, Langston went to Montana State University Billings to pursue his college volleyball career. As a sophomore at YC, Langston led the conference in blocks per set with 1.25 and totaled 115 total blocks en route to earning First-Team All-Region honors. Additionally, she had 109 kills and 43 recoveries.

Brooklyn Holland

Holland, from Gilbert, Arizona, takes his talents to Colorado State University Pueblo. In her second campaign, she led the Roughriders in digs with 378, a mark that placed her fourth in the conference. She also had 38 assists on the season.

Shea Marovitch

Arriving at YC from Chandler, Arizona, Marovich has now moved on to the University of Ottawa in Surprise, Arizona to pursue her college volleyball career. In his second season at the YC, Marovich had 90 assists and 46 digs.

Natalie Horley

YC Volleyball, Yavapai College, Prescott, volleyball, Roughriders athletics, local
A native of South Jordan, Utah, Horsley continued his college volleyball career at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. In her second season at YC, she recorded 359 assists and 166 digs.
