Before heading to Omaha, Neb. This spring, UT volleyball players will make a few appearances at places like Waco, San Antonio and the Erwin Center.
Texas released plans for a one-time spring season on Thursday. The Longhorns will open a nine-game list with a trip to UTSA on February 25. Texas will host four of these competitions at the Erwin Center.
For Texas, these nine games will serve as preparation for the NCAA tournament. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the NCAA previously moved the competition from this academic year to the spring. The NCAA typically ends its volleyball season in December.
This time around, the entire Division I volleyball tournament will take place at the CHI Health Center Arena and the Convention Center in Omaha. The first and second rounds are scheduled for April 13 and 14. The regional semi-finals are set for April 17 and the regional finalists will then face off two days later. The national semi-finals will take place on April 22. If all goes according to plan, a champion will be crowned on April 24.
Texas has already secured an automatic berth for the 48-team tournament. This fall, UT went 14-0 playing only Big 12 programs.
The Longhorns, however, have not been seen since a 3-0 win in West Virginia on November 13. Since their last game, Texas have added two international players to their roster and let passer Ashley Shook go as a graduate transfer.
