Shelton rallies to edge Cheshire in CSC boys’ volleyball final


Alessandro Mallozzi has been named CSC’s Most Outstanding Player to help lead the top-seeded Shelton Boys’ Volleyball team to a win from behind against No 2 Cheshire 3-2 and give the Gaels the title of the SCC tournament at home on Friday night.

Shelton (12-7) won 21-25, 17-25, 25-11, 25-21, 15-10. It was the Gaels’ first league championship since 2017, when they also trailed Cheshire 2-0 before rallying.

Cheshire (14-7), the defending champion, was led by Tim Nugent (41 assists) and Will Allen (16 kills, three digs and two blocks).

Keith Pokornowski and Kyle Pokornowski (F) 8-2; Gabe Aguero and Ethan Hanzlik (EO) defeated. Josh Cummings and Johann Chen (W) 8-0; Nick Gascon and Sasha Filipovic (EO) beat. Noah Held and Oscar Lin (F) 8-3.

Girls tennis
