MANILA, Philippines – Saint Benilde College earned a victory securing a berth in the final after a 25-14, 25-12, 25-18 loss to Perpetual Help University in the Women’s Volleyball Season 97 of the NCAA on Wednesday.
The Lady Blazers are looking to move straight into the best-of-three championship round with a victory over defending champion Arellano on Saturday.
A Lady Blazers win over the Lady Chiefs will turn the Final Four into a staggered format.
Jade Gentapa, however, knows she cannot fall into the trap of complacency after extending her perfect run to eight matches.
“Our biggest opponent right now is ourselves,” said Gentapa, who had a record 15 points, in the Filipino.
Mycah Go had nine points, 12 digs and five receptions for St. Benilde, while Gayle Pascual had two service aces to also finish with nine points.
Letran, meanwhile, swept Mapua, 25-17, 25-21, 25-18, to end a three-game losing skid.
Juls Castro had 19 points, 16 digs and four receptions for the Lady Knights while Cha Cuñada provided solid contributions with 14 points and 14 digs. Shereena Urmeneta had 11 points.
Letran, who was knocked out of the Final Four last week, improved to 2-6.
