BOZEMAN – Ennis’ product Jourdain Klein recorded a career-high 16 kills to take Montana State to a 21-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-19 victory in Big Volleyball Sky Conference Saturday against Eastern Washington on Senior Day at Shroyer Gym.
Despite beating Eastern Washington (10-12, 6-8) in the opening set, the Eagles won the pass-service game posting four aces and using two Montana State serve errors (13-12 , 9-5) to take a 1-0 Advantage in the match.
“I think the emotion of the senior day came to us early,” said MSU coach Daniel Jones. “Once we were able to reverse the serve-pass game, we took control of the game. “
The second set featured 11 draws and four lead changes. Leading 18-17, three straight kills by Klein and an ace from Allie Lynch gave the Bobcats a five-point cushion. MSU ended the shoot with a kill by Kira Thomsen.
MSU beat EWU 0.315-0.103 in the last two sets and used solid serve play to keep East Washington out of the system. Klein scored eight kills and Hannah Scott seven, in the last two frames.
“Offensively we’ve had a great week,” said Jones. “Today we had a lot of balance and had an effective attack.”
In the two games against Idaho and Eastern Washington, MSU has hit 0.304 and averaged 15.7 kills per set.
Thomsen 12 and Scott 11 also achieved double-digit wins against the Eagles. Lynch and Audrey Hofer had 28 and 27 assists.
