BABSON PARK, Fla. (June 10, 2022) – Director of Athletics for Webber International University, Brad Niethammerannounced that Matt Geer will step down as head coach of women’s volleyball. Geer spent one season as an assistant women’s volleyball coach and one season as a head coach.

Niethammer spoke of Geer’s departure saying: “Matt has done a great job during his short tenure as head coach. His team was very competitive and moved them in a positive direction. I wish Matt all the best in his next training opportunity. I am convinced that he will improve any program with his knowledge of volleyball, his leadership and his sense of organization.”

During his transition to head coaching, Coach Geer helped the Warriors reach a 13-14 record in 2021. It was Webber’s first 10+ win season since 2018. The Warriors had a six-game winning streak midway through the season from August 24 to September 14. Geer helped improve the team from just six wins in 2020 to 13 last season.

“I want to thank Brad Niethammer for the trust and support in me to build and lead this program in a positive direction,” said Guer. “My time at Webber was nothing short of memorable and I have confidence that the program will continue to return to a competitive team with the incoming recruiting class. Although my time was short, I really enjoyed working alongside my fellow coaches and wish the program success this fall. Finally, I want to thank the team for always believing in me as a coach and trusting our vision for the future. The student-athletes and staff will be greatly missed!”
