Skiatook recently honored the following athletes as Volleyball Players of the Week:

August 29-Sept. 2Kaylee Utley, So., college, outside hitter

College coach Jamie Long: “Her skills helped her transition to college at the start of the season. She works hard in training and continues to push hard to improve as an all-around player. She recently injured her ankle, she took some time to heal and was eager to get back on the pitch to help her team.

JV Verdigris TournamentTayhlor Elmore, So., JV, Outside Hitter

JV coach Jillian Chavez and Long: “She’s a captain and shows good leadership on the pitch with her attitude and desire to improve her skills. She shows coaches and other players that she is eager to learn, coachable, and willing to work for success. As she continues to make adjustments and gain experience on the court, she will be a very solid player in the years to come.

Long: “She is a solid setter and had the highest pass rating for serve received at the Catoosa tournament. Not only does she have great passing skills, but she also works hard at net with great blocks and hits. Her demeanor and enthusiasm on the court are also a big part of what makes her an excellent player and captain for her varsity team.
