Appalachian State Volleyball adds two to its roster, including Patton’s Roper


App State’s volleyball team has made two additions to its 2022 roster, head coach Sarah Rumely Noble announced Wednesday. Joining the Mountaineers will be junior transfer Cierra Huntley and real freshman Kenady Roper.

Cierra Huntley | 5’10 | Outside hitter | Davidson Day School | Virginia Tech | Huntersville, North Carolina
Cierra Huntley will join the Mountaineers for her junior season as an outside hitter after spending two years at Virginia Tech. While with the Hokies, Huntley played in 16 games, starting seven. She recorded 18 kills, 18 aces, and 95 digs. Prior to her college career, Huntley was a four-time letter winner and an all-state athlete at Davidson Day School. The Huntersville, North Carolina native was named the 2019 Foothills Athletic Conference Player of the Year and held the school record for most wins and aces. Huntley also has a twin brother, CJ, who currently plays basketball at App State.

Kenady Roper | 5’8 | Libero | Patton HS | Morganton, North Carolina
Originally from Morganton, North Carolina, Kenady Roper will wear black and gold as a true freshman. Roper holds Patton High School’s record for digs, posting 1,666 during his career. She also had 685 kills, 226 assists, 171 aces, and 20 blocks. Roper led a decorated career at Patton, earning four All-Conference selections, 2018 & 2021 Defensive MVP nods, and 2021 Mountain Foothills & 2A Conference Player of the Year accolades.
