2022 volleyball schedule announced – Texas Tech Red Raiders

LUBBOCK, Texas – After the program’s first NCAA tournament appearance since 2001, head coach Tony Graystone announced the 2022 Red Raider volleyball schedule.

“I look forward to the 2022 non-conference schedule,” says Graystone. “We are up against several strong teams and we will be tested as we prepare for the Big 12 game. The Big 12 will be as good as ever this year and we are delighted to know where we stand. There are plenty of reasons to feel good about our team this year and can’t wait to get started.”

The 2022 schedule will feature 13 non-conference games and 16 competitive games against Big 12 opponents. Tech will play 15 games against NCAA Tournament teams beginning in the 2021 season.

The Big 12 schedule will return to its normal format, last used in the 2019 season, where teams play once at home and once away from September to November. For the past two seasons, the conference slate has featured back-to-back games against the same opponent, either home or away.

Tech will start with a pair of home scrums, first hosting North Texas on August 18 at 4:00 p.m. at United Supermarkets Arena and again at 6:00 p.m. on August 20 for the annual red and black intra-squad scrimmage.

The Red Raiders open the 2022 regular season roster on the road at a tournament in South Bend, Indiana (August 26-27) as they face Notre Dame and Milwaukee.

Tech will host Tarleton State in a midweek game for the home opener on Tuesday August 30 at United Supermarkets Arena.

The Red Raiders will hit the road for consecutive weeks, stopping first in Athens, Georgia (Sept. 2-3) for a tournament against College of Charleston, Charlotte and UGA. The Red Raiders will stay in the Lone Star State for a tournament at Rice in Houston (September 9-11). The tournament will feature three NCAA Tournament teams starting in 2021: Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, Brown and Rice.

Tech returns to Lubbock for the Red Raider Classic September 15-17 where Tech will host SMU, UTRGV, Arizona State and Oral Roberts. The tournament will serve as a non-conference final as the Red Raiders open Big 12 play the following week.

The Red Raiders will kick off the Big 12 game on the road in West Virginia (Sept. 24) before returning to Lubbock to host Kansas State (Sept. 28) and Texas (Oct. 1).

Tech makes a quick trip to Fort Worth for a game against TCU (Oct. 8), then returns home to host Oklahoma (Oct. 12) before heading to Kansas (Oct. 15) and Baylor (Oct. 19).

The Red Raiders will host Iowa State at the United Supermarkets Arena on October 21, Baylor on November 2 and TCU on November 9 with a stop in Austin in between to face the Longhorns (October 26).

Tech travels north to Norman to face Oklahoma (Nov. 9), then travels to Ames to face Iowa State (Nov. 12). Tech hits the road one last time on Nov. 23 in Manhattan when they meet Kansas State.

The Red Raiders’ final home games are Nov. 19 against West Virginia and Nov. 25 against Kansas in the regular season finale.
