This very interesting cover was sent to me by Piet van den Berg, Holland. It is a postally used cover with a local Dutch stamp. This means that this cover was not transported by the ordinary Dutch postal system, but by a private company (the cancel says that you should not drop this letter into a normal post box).
The stamp was issued for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, USA, and shows the Olympic Gold Medal winners from the Netherlands,
Jan Posthuma (l) and Olof van der Meulen (r). It was issued by RONDOM POST Midden Friesland, Klipper 4, 8802 NL Franeker, "The cheap alternative" to the regular Dutch postal system. In the meantime this company does not exist any more. It was bought by REGIOPOST .
The interesting fact is that this cover was postally used and sent to Piet, unfortunately there is no date of the (private) cancel (a fact qhich is quite common with private postal companies, since it is more expensive to use cancels with changing dates).
