A self-made Maximum card

this ITEM OF THE MONTH was provided by GÜNTER PILZ / PIET VAN DEN BERG

During my visit the Netherlands in 1999 I went to see the matches of the World League in Rotterdam together with my good friend Piet van den Berg. During this event we got some of the above MIZUNO cards featuring the Dutch national player Bas van de Goor.
When I visited Piet again in November of 2002, we talked about this card and that we could make a Maximum card out of it. It was easy to find a suitable stamp, since the Netherlands had issued a souvenir sheet (001b) with a Volleyball stamp (001a) for the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain, where Bas van de Goor particpated as an active Volleyball player.
But how could we get a cancel which would have a relation with the topic. Piet proposed to get it from the small city of Oss, which is the birthplace of  Bas van de Goor. And so it was done. Thanks to Piet we now can present this beautiful Maximum card, where the topic of the card, the stamp and the cancel have a close relation.
